Brandon Stone (Texas) and Kelsey Vines (Oklahoma State) have been named February's Big 12 Golfers of the Month. It is the second award of the season for Stone, who took home the honor in September. Vines is the first Cowgirl to earn the award since 2010.
Brandon Stone, Texas, Fr., Pretoria, South Africa
Stone overcame a four-stroke deficit in the final round of the Bayou City Collegiate Championship and fired a field-best 67 to earn the victory. The win marked Stone's second of the season after previously earning medalist honors in his collegiate debut at the Carpet Capital Collegiate in September. During the month of February, Stone fired four rounds in the 60s (out of six rounds) and led the Longhorns with a 69.2 stroke average. The freshman is the No. 1 ranked individual collegiate player in the latest edition of the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings.
Kelsey Vines, Oklahoma State, Sr., Austin, Texas
Vines earned her third victory as a Cowgirl at the Hurricane Invitational, leading her team to a fourth-place finish. She followed that up with back-to-back runner-up finishes at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge and Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate. Her two second-place showings ran her string of first or second-place finishes to four in a row dating back to the fall. Vines is currently the No. 1-ranked player in the country according to the Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings and Golfstat. The senior fired her low round of the year at the Hurricane Invitational, posting a 68 during the second round.
