The Big 12 Conference announced its future seven-game bowl lineup. The agreements will begin for 2014 postseason games to coincide with the start of the new College Football Playoff.

The new lineup provides the Big 12 with attractive matchups, featuring a bowl footprint in the top recruiting areas across the country. In addition, teams and fans will be able to travel to desirable postseason locations.

“Our new bowl lineup meets all the benchmarks our member institutions desired,” commented Commissioner Bob Bowlsby.  “We have maintained a strong post-season presence in Texas, added a Florida destination, continued our exposure in the West, and added a drivable destination.”

The Allstate Sugar Bowl will host the Big 12 champion against the winner of the SEC in a 12-year partnership, unless one or both teams are selected for the College Football Playoff. If that were to occur another deserving team from the conference(s) would be selected. The game will be played at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, with the first matchup scheduled for Jan. 1, 2015.

Renewal agreements are in place with the Valero Alamo, Texas, Buffalo Wild Wings and Heart of Dallas bowls while new partnerships have been added with the Russell Athletic, AutoZone Liberty and Bell Helicopter Armed Forces bowls.

The Big 12 will send a team to each bowl annually from 2014-19, except for the Heart of Dallas and Bell Helicopter Armed Forces bowls in which a Conference representative will play in the bowls on a rotating basis.

Last season the Big 12 became the first conference to send 90-percent of its teams to bowl games.  Additionally, 2012 marked the seventh season in the previous eight that at least eight teams played in the postseason.

Bowl partner selections of Big 12 teams will be made in the order listed below.
