Jamie Fletcher (Kansas), Victoria Esson (Texas Tech) and Julia Dyche (Texas) have earned weekly soccer honors for games played on Nov. 1.  This week’s awards mark the final accolades of the season. Fletcher notches the second weekly honor of her career, Esson’s total now stands at seven, and Dyche picks up her first award.

Offensive Player of the Week
Jamie Fletcher, Kansas, MF, Jr., Albuquerque, N.M.
Fletcher lifted Kansas to a 2-1 win over Oklahoma Friday afternoon which earned the Jayhawks the eighth and final spot to the Big 12 Championship. She tallied her second-career multi-goal game as she put in both of the Jayhawks goals on the day. After scoring her first of the afternoon in the 29th minute, the Albuquerque native broke a 1-1 tie with her header less than 90 seconds remaining in regulation to seal her team’s victory and punch KU’s 13th ticket to the conference tournament in the last 15 seasons.

Defensive Player of the Week
Victoria Esson, Texas Tech, GK, Sr., Christchurch, New Zealand
Esson posted her fourth consecutive shutout performance in the Red Raiders’ 1-0 shutout victory over Texas Sunday at the John Walker Soccer Complex. With the performance, she secured her Big 12-leading 13th shutout of the year and ended the regular season having allowed just one goal in the final eight matches. Esson ended the regular season leading the Big 12 in four statistical categories while breaking the Texas Tech single season shutout record.

Newcomer of the Week
Julia Dyche, Texas, MF, Fr., South Lake, Texas
After netting her first career goal in Burnt Orange against Stephen F. Austin on Oct. 25, Dyche earned her second start of the season at midfielder for Texas in the Longhorns’ regular-season finale at Texas Tech. Dyche, who has seen action in 15 matches as a rookie, played 49 minutes against the No. 12 Red Raiders and was an integral part of holding Tech’s powerful offense in check for much of the game.
