Junior outside hitter Haley Eckerman (Texas) has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I National Player of the Week.
Last Saturday, Eckerman recorded her sixth double-double and fourth of the conference season vs. No. 24 Kansas with a season-high 25 kills and 13 digs. The junior led all Big 12 players for the week with 6.25 kills and 6.88 points per set. She was the only league player to average over six kills per set on the week. Additionally, Eckerman hit .333 against the Jayhawks with just five errors on 60 swings.
The Longhorns moved to 11-0 in league play and won their 14th straight match.
For her performance, Eckerman was the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week, marking her eighth honor in that category all-time. She has totaled 13 career Big 12 weekly awards.
Eckerman is the second player to earn the national weekly honor this season (Sallie McLaurin, Oklahoma) and 37th Big 12 recipient all-time.
