Big 12 Track & Field Squads Head to NCAA Championships

A total of 116 Big 12 student-athletes will compete in the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon, June 11-14.

The league enters the championships with five men’s and five women’s teams ranked in the USTFCCCA Top 25. The Texas women come into the event as the top-ranked team in the nation. The Longhorns are followed by Baylor in the No. 12 spot. Kansas comes in at No. 14 with Texas Tech at No. 15. Kansas State rounds out the group of women’s squads coming in 24th.

For the men, Texas sits at fifth to lead the conference. Oklahoma State (No. 8) and Texas Tech (No. 9) complete the league teams in the top 10, while Baylor and K-State join the list at 15th and 18th, respectively.

Texas looks to claim its fifth NCAA crown after finishing second at the indoor championships in March. The Longhorn women are coming off a Big 12 season sweep, winning both the indoor and outdoor titles for the fifth time in school history. UT will be represented by 16 women’s entries at the NCAA Championships, tied for the second-most of all teams in the competition.

The Texas men lead the league with 12 entries and will look to claim the league’s fourth men's championship title.

The Texas women lead the Big 12 in NCAA outdoor titles, capturing the honor four times (1998, ‘99, 2005, ‘06). Kansas captured the crown in 2013.

In individual events, the league has recorded a total of 67 women’s titles, along with 51 for the men.

Wednesday’s and Thursday’s events can be seen on while Friday’s action will be broadcast live on ESPNU as well as beginning at 6:30 p.m. CT. Saturday’s finals will be on ESPNU at 1:00 p.m. CT.
