Baylor Athlete of the Year Candidates

Big 12 Athlete of the Year candidates will be highlighted each day through July 19. Fans will then be able to vote for their male and female choices from July 19-21. Fan voting will be considered in the final tally for selecting this prestigious award. Today’s featured candidates are Baylor’s Odyssey Sims and Bryce Petty.

♦  Received the 2014 Wade Trophy, Frances Pomeroy Naismith Award, the Dawn Staley Award and the Nancy Lieberman Award
♦  Big 12 Player and Defensive Player of the Year
♦  Just the second NCAA Division I women’s player to score over 1,000 points in a season
♦  No. 2 overall pick in the WNBA Draft

Bryce Petty
Junior; Midlothian, Texas

♦  Led Baylor football to its first Big 12 Championship and first BCS bowl game
♦  Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year
♦   Winner of inaugural Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award
♦   Established 17 school records in 2013, including nine single-season marks
♦   Named All-American by Athlon (second team) and (honorable mention)
