July 07, 2014
Four Big 12 volleyball matches will be nationally televised on ESPNU for the upcoming season, along with one match on FOX Sports Regional Networks, the Conference office announced.
Five league teams will be featured between the five telecasts with Texas and Iowa State each making three appearances. Kansas will be featured twice while Oklahoma and West Virginia are also on the schedule. The Longhorns are coming off their eighth straight season ranked in the top 10, finishing third in the nation a year ago after claiming the Big 12 regular season crown with a 16-0 league mark. The Cyclones and Sooners finished tied for third. Kansas concluded 2013 with a second-place finish in the Big 12 standings, its first trip to the NCAA Regional Semifinals and a No. 17 national ranking.
Texas’ trio of televised matches will all feature UT on the road, beginning with a Wednesday contest in Morgantown on ESPNU. The September 24 match will serve as the conference opener for Texas and West Virginia. UT’s road trips to Kansas (Oct. 5) and Iowa State (Nov. 2) will be on FOX Sports Regional Networks and ESPNU, respectively. In addition to the match against the Longhorns, Iowa State’s home contests against Oklahoma (Oct. 12) and Kansas (Oct. 22) will also be televised on ESPNU.
Additional television appearances will be made through Big 12 broadcast partners as well as institutional contracts with several school networks and third-tier partners carrying telecasts throughout the season.
