The two highest scoring averages in Big 12 play led to weekly accolades as Isaiah Taylor (Texas) and Jawun Evans (Oklahoma State) have been named the Phillips 66 Big 12 Men’s Basketball Player and Newcomer of the Week. Taylor is the third Longhorn to be recognized with player honors this season, while Evans is selected top newcomer for the second time in 2015-16.

PHILLIPS 66 BIG 12 PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Isaiah Taylor, Texas, G, 6-3, 185, Jr., South Hayward, Calif./The Village School [Texas]
Taylor had 23.0 points per game in two Longhorn victories last week, the second-best mark in the Big 12. The junior guard shot 61.7 percent (16-of-26) in two contests while making 3-of-6 (.500) from 3-point range and 11-of-13 (.846) from the free throw line. He posted a game-high 28 points with six rebounds and six assists in an overtime win over No. 17 Iowa State. He finished with another game-high versus Oklahoma State, totaling 18 points. Taylor recorded 10 assists with just two turnovers to go along with eight rebounds for the week. He leads UT in scoring (17.2 ppg), assists (4.8 apg) and minutes (30.4 mpg) in 2015-16.

PHILLIPS 66 BIG 12 NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK
Jawun Evans, Oklahoma State, G, 6-0, 175, Fr., Dallas, Texas/Kimball
Evans turned in a historic scoring performance in the Bedlam matchup versus Oklahoma, finishing with 42 points - the third-best scoring game in school history. It was the highest point total by a Cowboy freshman and the second-most in the Big 12 freshman record book. Only five players in the nation and just two freshmen have scored more points in a game this season and his 18 field goals were a NCAA-best. He followed that performance by approaching a triple-double against Texas, recording 12 points, eight rebounds and seven assists. Evans averaged a league-best 27.0 points last week, shooting 50 percent from the field with 6.5 assists and 7.5 rebounds per game. He is averaging a team-best 17.6 points in conference play.
