Three non-conference victories by Kansas and Oklahoma State led to Frank Mason (Kansas) and Brandon Averette (Oklahoma State) capturing the latest Phillips 66 Big 12 Player and Newcomer of the Week honors. Mason wins for the second time this year, while Averette is recognized for the first time.

  • Averaged 24.0 points in leading the Jayhawks to wins over UMKC and Nebraska.
  • Recorded 12 assists with no turnovers in the two contests while grabbing nine rebounds.
  • Shot 69.6 percent from the floor, 72.7 percent from 3-point range and 80 percent from the line.

PHILLIPS 66 BIG 12 NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK
Brandon Averette, Oklahoma State, G, Fr., Richardson, Texas

  • Stepped in for injured teammate Jawun Evans and led the Cowboys to a road win at Tulsa.
  • In his first career start, posted a game and career-high 17 points, with three assists and three steals.
  • Hit a jumper with 4:14 left to cut TU's lead to one point before recording a steal and swinging momentum back to OSU.
