Norman, Okla. - With rainy conditions the Big 12 Tennis championship was moved inside. An action packed three matches saw TCU crowned the men's tennis champion and moved Texas Tech and Oklahoma State on to the women's final tomorrow.
TCU took care of business as they claimed the doubles point and took the three singles matches with out dropping a set. In a match that lasted only one hour and 35 minutes the Horned Frogs claimed their second straight conference championship title. With the win over Texas Tech, TCU becomes the first team since Baylor in 2009 to claim back-to-back regular season and tournament championships.
No. 1 ranked Cameron Norrie was named the Most Outstanding Performer of the championship after winning both singles matches. Norrie becomes the first player in conference history to win MOP honors in back-to-back seasons.
In the first women's semifinal match of the day, Texas Tech went back and forth with Texas in singles before finally coming out on top. Gabriela Talaba, Sabrina Federici, Sarah Dvorak and Katelyn Jackson claimed singles points for the Red Raiders. The 4-2 win over the Longhorns placed Tech in the championship for the second year in a row.
Oklahoma State and Baylor faced off in the second semifinal match of the day. The match came down to the last two singles, but finally came to a close as Katarina Adamovic finished off Elizabeth Profit to take the clenching point. OSU will defend their championship from last year after the 4-2 win.
The women's championship match will be broadcast on FSN beginning at 4:00 p.m. CT.
