The Big 12 Outdoor Track & Field Championships are scheduled for May 11-13 at Ed Weir Track in Lincoln, Neb. It will mark the first time that Nebraska has hosted the outdoor meet.
This is the seventh site in the conference's history to sponsor the outdoor championships. Other locations include Hart-Patterson Track & Field Complex (1997, '99, 2006) R.V. Christian Track Complex in Manhattan, Kan. (2005); John Jacobs Field in Norman, Okla. (2004); Mike A. Myers Stadium and Soccer Field in Austin, Texas (2003); Frank G. Anderson Track and Field Complex in College Station, Texas (2001); Audrey J. Walton Track-Soccer Stadium in Columbia, Mo.(1998, 2000, '02).
In 2006, Texas swept the championships as the women claimed a league-leading sixth title (1997-99, 2003-04, '06) while the men won their fourth.
With last year's victory, the Longhorns (1997, '99, 2003, '06) are tied with the Husker men (1998, 2000, '02, '04) with the most Big 12 championships at four each followed by Texas A&M and Texas Tech, which earned the 2001 and '05 crowns, respectively.
On the women's side, Kansas State (2001-02) and Nebraska (2000, '05) trail the Longhorns with two apiece.
