The men's college basketball season is set to begin this week and three Big 12 coaches are heading to ESPN headquarters to discuss the upcoming year on Wednesday, Nov. 11. Baylor's Scott Drew, Missouri's Mike Anderson and Travis Ford of Oklahoma State will be on the Bristol, Conn. campus to talk about their teams and the strength of the Big 12 in anticipation of the 2009-10 campaign.
All three coaches will go through various interviews between 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. CT as part of a process known as a “Car Wash”. The interviews and discussions will work through different platforms at ESPN, including shows that are broadcast on ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU. Among the interviews, each coach will sit down to tape a segment that will air as part of ESPN’s College Basketball Season Preview. That show will air on Nov. 12 at 6 p.m. CT on ESPN2. In addition, each coach will participate in interviews with selection personalities from ESPN.com, including national correspondent Andy Katz.
The teams of all three head coaches participated in the postseason last year. Missouri and Oklahoma State participated in the 2009 NCAA Tournament. The Tigers advanced to the Elite Eight and return several key components from that squad, while the Cowboys boast Preseason All-Big 12 choice James Anderson on a team that advanced to the NCAA second round a year ago. Baylor followed a run to the final of the Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship by advancing to the NIT title game at Madison Square Garden.
All three teams begin regular-season play over the next week. Baylor hosts Norfolk State on Friday, Nov. 13, while Oklahoma State hosts Seattle on Saturday, Nov. 14. Mizzou starts its regular-season slate with UT-Martin visiting Columbia on Tuesday, Nov. 17.
