Sophomore Jamie Straube (Iowa State), senior JuliAnne Chisholm (Kansas State) and junior Suzy Boulavsky (Oklahoma) headline the Big 12's 10 selections to the 2010 ESPN Academic All-District Volleyball teams, selected by CoSIDA. The trio has earned first-team recognition --Boulavsky (District VI) and Straube, Chisholm (District VII)-- in their respective districts. It marks the second straight first-team accolade for Chisholm and Boulavsky.
Seniors Caitlyn Trice (Baylor) and Caroline Courtney (Texas Tech) have been tabbed for District VI's second team while Karina Garlington (Kansas) also received second-team accolades in District VII.
Third-team honorees included: District VI--Elizabeth Graham (Baylor), Caitlin Higgins (Oklahoma) and Jennifer Doris (Texas); District VII--Lauren Mathewson (Kansas State).
Three Academic All-District teams are chosen in each district, with those on the All-District first teams placed on the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration. The Academic All-America squad will be released on Nov. 22.
To be nominated for all-district consideration, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) for her career. No athlete is eligible until she has reached sophomore athletic and academic standing.
