The website is maintained via a partnership with NeuLion, a leading broadcaster of live and on-demand sports video over the Internet.
The league’s redesigned website launched on July 1 with a new look and numerous features. Video will continue to be a strong facet, as the Big 12 Network Online produced nearly 200 hours of original content in the last year. The video area will again allow the Conference to provide complete and comprehensive coverage of all Big 12 Championships - with live streaming from many events. In addition, the league’s television partner (ESPN/ABC, Inc.) provides for the posting of full rebroadcasts of any game on its network 72 hours after completion.
"Our new website allows us to continue to tell the story of our member schools, coaches, and student-athletes," said Tim Allen, Senior Associate Commissioner of the Big 12. "It is fitting that the Big 12 provide its visitors a progressive platform to highlight the activities of a premiere intercollegiate athletics conference."
The site will continue to showcase original written content. Big 12 Insider Wendell Barnhouse serves as the site’s lead correspondent, as well as host of The Big 12 Report, a weekly video show highlighting activities around the Conference. Barnhouse also maintains a daily blog that provides inside information on the Big 12. The Conference’s In Focus program showcases daily features during the academic year written by students from all 10 member schools.
"The re-launch of Big12Sports.com was a true collaborative effort to redefine the Big 12’s digital presence," noted Ed O’Brien, Vice President, NeuLion College. "The site creates a unique fan engagement experience, and leverages NeuLion’s innovative technology to deliver up-to-the minute news, video and dynamic content covering all 10 member schools."
Additional components of the website will be added in the coming months, including various mobile and digital media platforms, e-commerce solutions and more.
