Missouriís Waters Garners Big 12 Wrestler of the Week Honor

On the strength of an upset against the No. 2 wrestler in his weight division and a perfect 6-0 start to the month of December, Alan Waters (Missouri) has been named the Big 12 Wrestler of the Week. It is the first career honor for Waters.

Alan Waters, Missouri, So., 125 pounds, Kansas City, Mo.
To cap off the undefeated week, Waters upset No. 2 Nic Bedelyon of Kent State, beating him by a 12-1 major decision. Waters scored a first period takedown and tilted Bedelyon to his back twice to take a commanding 8-0 lead. Earlier in the week, Waters took first in the 125-pound weight class at the Kaufman-Brand Open, pinning his first four opponents before winning by technical fall in the finals. Waters is now 8-0 on the season and has won all of his contests by fall or major decision.
