Missouri's Kelsea Roth and Chelsea Thomas have been named Big 12 Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively for games played Feb. 21-26. Roth is the first MU freshman to garner Player of the Week honors since Rhea Taylor in 2008. It is the ninth career weekly accolade for Thomas, the most for any Tiger pitcher in league history.

Big 12 Player of the Week
Kelsea Roth, Missouri, Fr., 1B, Yorba Linda, Calif.
Opening the Cathedral City Classic with her first collegiate hit, Roth nailed a two-run home run to the opposite field against UC Davis, where the Tigers prevailed 8-0. She drew three walks and doubled in two runs against then-No. 22 Nebraska, and collected a hit and walk in a win against Washington, who was ranked No. 5/7 at the time. The freshman went 2-for-4 with two singles against Northwestern and closed the weekend with a 1-for-2 performance against UCLA, doubling and driving in two runs to boost Missouri to a 7-5 victory.

Big 12 Pitcher of the Week
Chelsea Thomas, Missouri, Jr., RHP, Pleasantville, Iowa
Thomas posted a 2-0 record over the weekend against top-10 squads Washington and UCLA. She threw the eighth no-hitter of her career against then-No. 5/7 Washington Saturday at the Cathedral City Classic. The junior stifled the Huskie offense with eight strikeouts and faced just one batter over the minimum as the lone UW base runner reached on an error. Against UCLA, who was ranked No. 7/5 at the time, Thomas worked six innings, retiring seven while giving up her first earned runs of the season. For the year, the Pleasantville, Iowa-native has a 1.54 ERA in 22.2 innings with 25 strikeouts.
