TRINITY, Texas -- Shooting its second-best third round score in Big 12 Championship history, Texas A&M holds on to the lead at the Big 12 Men's Golf Championship after finishing the day 2-under-par 286. The squad has a 54-hole total of 868 (+4) heading into the final round at Whispering Pines Golf Club in Trinity, Texas.
Texas battled back from fourth place and sits nine strokes behind the Aggies through 54 holes. The Longhorns recorded a 283 card on the day, the best team mark for a single round during the championship thus far. UT has registered an 877 (+13) team total through three rounds.
One stroke separates second and third as Texas Tech posted a third round mark of 290 (+2) for a 878 (+14) squad total.
Oklahoma trails the Red Raiders by two strokes with a total of 880 (+16) and Baylor rounds out the top five after carding a 2-over-par 290 on the day.
Oklahoma State (899), Iowa State (905), Missouri (900), Kansas State (918) and Kansas (931) complete the last five teams in the standings.
Abraham Ancer (Oklahoma) keeps a tight grip on the top spot on the individual leader board as he recorded a 3-under par 69 Saturday. The Sooner owns a 210 (-6) overall score and maintains a two-stroke lead over Texas' Dylan Frittelli. Frittelli recorded a 5-under-par 67 round for the lowest round tally at the championship thus far.
UT and TAMU have three players apiece in the top-10 individual standings. Following Frittelli in second, Jordan Spieth and Julio Vegas are knotted up in a tie for ninth at 2-over-par 218 through three rounds. Tyler Dunlap paces the Aggies with his season-best 54-hole card of 213. He sits third overall, followed by Johannes Veerman who is in a tie for fourth and Jordan Russell who is in a tie for sixth.
The final round begins Sunday at 8 a.m. with Kansas State and Kansas split between hole 1 and 10. Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Texas A&M and Texas will begin at hole 1, while Iowa State, Missouri, Baylor and Oklahoma State will tee off at the 10th hole.
