Big 12 Athlete of the Year candidates will be highlighted each day through July 20. Fans who follow the Big 12 Conference on Facebook and twitter will then be able to vote for their male and female choices from July 20-24. Fan voting will be considered in the final tally for selecting this prestigious award.

This afternoon's featured candidates are Kansas State's Erik Kynard and Ryann Krais.

♦  Ranked No. 4 in the world entering U.S. Olympic Trials and Olympic Games in the high jump
♦  2012 U.S. Track & Field Olympic Trials 2nd place - member Team USA 2012 London Olympic Games
♦  2012 NCAA Champion in the outdoor high jump - 2.34 meters (7-08.00), the eighth athlete in NCAA history to clear that height outdoors
♦  His jump tied for fifth in NCAA history, and set K-State school record and historic Drake Stadium facility record
♦  2012 Big 12 champion indoor and outdoor in the high jump
Ryann Krais; Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field
Senior; Eagleville, Pa.


♦  Placed 14th in the heptathlon at the 2012 NCAA outdoor championship
♦  Finished fifth in the pentathlon at the 2012 NCAA indoor championship
♦  2012 Big 12 Champion indoor (pentathlon) and outdoor (heptathlon)
♦  Fifth in the 400-meter hurdles and eighth in the 4x400 releay at the 2012 Big 12 outdoor championship
♦  In the 2012 NCAA West Preliminary Rounds, finished 23rd in the 4x400 and 39th in the 100m hurdles
