All nine league teams enter the fifth week of play with winning streaks intact. TCU has rattled off eight straight wins, while Kansas has compiled a streak of six consecutive victories and K-State has won five in a row. League teams are 84-31 in non-conference play, good for a .731 combined winning percentage.

Six Big 12 matches are on tap this week to kick off the 2013 conference schedule. TCU hosts No. 5 Texas on Wednesday, while Texas Tech travels to Oklahoma. Both matches are available regionally on Fox Sports Southwest Plus. TCU is one of four league squads with a perfect record at home thus far. WVU and Texas will also look to protect undefeated home marks with Big 12 matches at home this weekend.

Texas moved up one spot to No. 5 on this week’s AVCA national rankings, while Iowa State maintained its No. 25 ranking. K-State and Oklahoma are once again receiving votes.

Kansas, K-State, TCU and West Virginia were all tournament champions last weekend. The four teams combined to go 12-0 over the weekend as the league posted a 21-3 mark in overall matches last week. Additionally, Texas produced the third-consecutive sellout on Sunday as the eighth largest attendance in Gregory Gym’s current configuration of 4,213 filled the stands. The Longhorns have won all home matches in front of sellout crowds this season and improved to 4-0 in five-set matches with their victory over No. 12 Nebraska.

Texas and Kansas State are the only league teams who have all-time winning percentages above .500 in league play since competition began in 1996. UT sports a .780 mark against league opponents while K-State carries a .596 winning percentage into the 2013 conference season.

Kansas State head coach Suzie Fritz recorded her 250th career win last weekend. Fritz is one of six league coaches with over 250 wins in their coaching careers. She is also one of three conference coaches to record 250 or more victories while coaching at their Big 12 institution (Ray Bechard, KU & Jerritt Elliott, UT).

Oklahoma’s Sallie McLaurin recorded six solo blocks last week to climb to a tie for fourth on the Big 12 career charts with 89 solo blocks. She is tied with three others including KU’s Caroline Jarmoc. McLaurin also moved into the top 10 for total blocks. With 545, she ranks ninth. Both McLaurin and Jarmoc are also in the top five nationally in the blocks category. For active players, McLaurin tops the list, while Jarmoc ranks fifth.
