Baylor junior linebacker Bryce Hager and TCU senior cornerback Jason Verrett were named two of the 20 quarterfinalists for the 10th annual Lott IMPACT Trophy, the Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation announced.
Hager leads BU and is third in the Big 12 with 8.7 tackles per game. He has 52 total tackles through six games with 34 solo tackles. He also has 2.5 tackles for loss, one sack and three pass breakups. The Bears are 11th in the country in total defense, giving up 317.3 yards per game.
Verrett has accumulated 28 total tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and 1.0 sack this season. He leads the Big 12 with 12 passes defended.
Named after Pro Football Hall of Fame member Ronnie Lott, The Lott IMPACT Trophy is awarded to college football's Defensive IMPACT Player of the Year. The award works to recognize players for their contributions on and off the field with IMPACT standing for Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community and Tenacity.Eight semifinalists for the award will be announced Nov. 13, four finalists will be announced Nov. 27 and the winner at the 10th annual Lott IMPACT Trophy Banquet Dec. 8 at the Pacific Club in Newport Beach.
