Bryce Petty has been selected as a Davey O’Brien Quarterback Award semifinalist, the Davey O’Brien Foundation announced.
Petty is one of 16 quarterbacks to be selected to the list by the Davey O’Brien National Selection Committee, with the Fan Vote accounting for five percent of the total vote.
The committee was asked to consider the following criteria: quarterback skills, athletic ability, academics, character, leadership and sportsmanship.
In 2013, Petty has produced FBS-leading numbers for passing efficiency (219.0) and passing yards per completion (20.11). He has amassed 2,453 yards through the air by completing 122 of 176 passes with 18 touchdowns. Petty's 350.4 passing yards per game and completion percentage of 69.3 lead the Big 12. The Midlothian, Texas, native also has 28 carries for 73 yards and six touchdowns on the ground. Petty has thrown for at least 300 yards and two touchdowns in all seven games this year.

Fan voting will close at noon (CT) on Nov. 24.The three Davey O'Brien finalists will be announced on Monday, Nov. 25 and the 2013 Davey O'Brien winner will be announced on The Home Depot College Football Awards airing Thursday, Dec. 12 on ESPN. The 37th Annual Davey O'Brien Awards Dinner will be held on Feb.17, 2014 in Fort Worth, Texas.
