Rohach, Jeffcoat and Fera Receive Big 12 Football Weekly Honors
December 02, 2013

Grant Rohach (Iowa State), Jackson Jeffcoat (Texas) and Anthony Fera (Texas) were named Big 12 Football Players of the Week by a panel of media that cover the Conference. Jeffcoat (defense) and Fera (special teams) were honored for the third time this season while Rohach (offense) picked up his first award.

Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week
Grant Rohach, Iowa State, QB, Fr, Moorpark, Calif.
Grant Rohach helped Iowa State score on its final seven possessions to erase a 24-point deficit for a 52-44 triple-overtime win at West Virginia. The freshman quarterback was 25-of-39 for 331 yards passing with four touchdowns. He also rushed for a 54-yard score, which was the longest run this season for the Cyclones. With back-to-back 300-yard passing games, Rohach is the first Cyclone freshman QB to achieve this feat. He hit Quenton Bundrage for a 62-yard TD and Justin Coleman for a 19-yard score in the fourth quarter to tie the game. His 25-yarder to Coleman on the first play of the third overtime was the game-winner. Rohach’s four touchdown tosses in a game ties for third all-time in school history and equals the freshman record.

Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week
Jackson Jeffcoat, Texas, DE, Sr, Plano, Texas
Jackson Jeffcoat posted a team-high seven tackles, including three sacks in Texas' 41-16 win over Texas Tech. All three of his sacks came on third-down plays as the Horns held an explosive Red Raider offense to 5-of-18 third-down attempts and 396 yards of offense, more than 100 yards below their 525 ypg season average. Jeffcoat also had three QB pressures. His sacks all came in the second quarter. The first two forced punts while his third forced a field goal as UT maintained a 20-10 halftime lead. Jeffcoat's three sacks moved him into eighth place on the UT all-time list with 24.5 and third on the Longhorns’ all-time TFL list with 57.

Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week
Anthony Fera, Texas, K/P, Sr, Cypress, Texas
Anthony Fera connected on both of his field goal attempts and all five PATs to tally 11 points in the Longhorns’ 41-16 win over Texas Tech. Fera's two field goals extended his streak to a school-record 15 straight, tying a mark set 16 years ago by Longhorn Pro Bowl kicker Phil Dawson. He also dropped three of his five punts inside the 20-yard line, increasing his season total to 26-of-59 (44.1% /11th-best nationally) punts downed inside the 20 on the year. Fera's first field goal, a 37-yarder midway through the first quarter, pulled Texas within four at 7-3. His second kick, from 49-yards out, extended the Horns’ lead to 13-7. Fera is now 13-of-13 on field goals when the game is within seven points and 5-of-5 in three-point games this season. He is 19-of-20 (95%) on field goals overall in 2013, on pace for the most accurate season in UT history.
