Gardner and Buckley Garner Big 12 Womenís Basketball Players of the Week

Chelsea Gardner (Kansas) and Jadda Buckley (Iowa State) were selected for Phillips 66 Big 12 Women’s Basketball weekly honors, as chosen by a media panel. Both picked up their first career honor while competing against Top 25 teams.

Chelsea Gardner averaged 23.5 points and 7.5 rebounds in Kansas’ win over Texas Southern and three-point loss to No. 18 Purdue. She started the week scoring a career-high 30 points against TSU behind 13-of-16 shooting from the field, including two three-point plays. In addition she led the team with eight rebounds. Against Purdue, Gardner recorded a team-high 17 points and swatted away a team-best three blocks. The junior forward also grabbed seven boards, which was second-most for a KU player. On the week Gardner was perfect from the free throw line sinking all five attempts while shooting 72.4 percent from the field (21-of-29).

Phillips 66 Big 12 Freshman of the Week
Jadda Buckley, Iowa State, G, Mason City, Iowa
Jadda Buckley scored a career-high 19 points with three assists in No. 17 Iowa State’s 83-70 win over No. 21 Iowa.  It was the Cyclone’s first win over a ranked opponent since a 72-68 victory over Oklahoma last season on Feb. 14. Buckley helped control the Cyclone offense and forced Iowa fouls off several key drives to the basket. Her play earned her 16 shots at the free-throw line where she connected on 14.
