October 12, 2015

Trevone Boykin (TCU), Emmanuel Ogbah (Oklahoma State), Malik Jefferson (Texas) and Zach Sinor (Oklahoma State) were chosen Big 12 Football Players of the Week by a panel of media that covers the Conference. Boykin (offense) was honored for the sixth time in his career and second week this season. Ogbah (co-defense) picked up his third career award and second of the season. Jefferson (co-defense) and Sinor (special teams) were each recognized for the first time.

Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week
Trevone Boykin, TCU, QB, Sr, Dallas, Texas
Senior quarterback Trevone Boykin keyed No. 2 TCU’s 18-point second-half comeback that resulted in a 52-45 win at K-State to tie for the largest come-from-behind victory in head coach Gary Patterson’s 15 seasons. Boykin totaled 425 yards of offense and four touchdowns in leading the Horned Frogs to a game-winning drive in the final two minutes in a Big 12 road game for the second time this season. He completed 20-of-30 passes for 301 yards and ran for a career-high 124 yards on 11 attempts for an 11.3 per carry average with no negative yards. His career-long 69-yard scoring run with 6:07 to play gave TCU a one-point lead before his two-point conversion extended it to three. Boykin’s 55-yard TD pass to Josh Doctson with 1:10 left provided the game-winning points. He posted his fourth-consecutive 300-yard passing game, went over 9,000 career yards in passing (9,256) and extended his TCU career record to 76 touchdown passes.

Big 12 Defensive Co-Players of the Week
Emmanuel Ogbah, Oklahoma State, DE, Jr, Houston, Texas
Emmanuel Ogbah scored a defensive touchdown, forced two fumbles, recovered a fumble, notched a sack, had a tackle for loss and a quarterback hurry in No. 21 Oklahoma State’s 33-26 overtime win at West Virginia. He also set a season high with eight tackles. His fumble recovery in the end zone opened the scoring and the first fumble that he forced enabled the Cowboy offense to start a drive at the West Virginia 28-yard line. Just five plays later, the Cowboys found the end zone. In conference games, Ogbah is tied for the Big 12 lead in sacks (4) and tops the Conference in tackles for loss (6.5) and fumbles forced (2).

Malik Jefferson, Texas, LB, Fr, Mesquite, Texas
Freshman linebacker Malik Jefferson recorded six total tackles (five solo), including two quarterback sacks and two tackles-for-loss in Texas’ 24-17 win over No. 9 Oklahoma. He helped the Texas defense hold the Sooners to 278 yards of total offense, including just 67 yards rushing, and a season-high six sacks. Jefferson was also named the Walter Camp Football Foundation National Defensive Player of the Week.

Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week
Zach Sinor, Oklahoma State, P, Fr, Castroville, Texas
Freshman punter Zach Sinor punted eight times for an average of 44.9 yards in helping Oklahoma State with the field position battle in a 33-26 OT win at West Virginia. Three of his punts were downed inside the Mountaineer 20-yard line. Sinor did his best work in the fourth quarter with punts of 49, 52 and 50 yards on his last three strikes. His eight punts in the game resulted in just three punt return yards for West Virginia.
