Two Texas standouts that were key components of the Longhorns’ 2-0 week along with Iowa State’s Jameel McKay have garnered the latest Big 12 weekly honors. Senior guard Javan Felix and McKay share the Player of the Week award, while teammate Eric Davis Jr. has been named the top newcomer. It is the first honor of the season for Felix and McKay, while Davis is selected for the second time in the last three weeks.
PHILLIPS 66 BIG 12 PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

McKay averaged a double-double with 17.0 points and 10.0 rebounds in three Cyclone victories. He shot 68.8 percent (22-of-32) in the three contests and made 7-of-10 (.700) from the free throw line while adding three assists, three blocks and four steals. He started the week with 13 points and 10 boards versus Buffalo before posting 20 points and 12 rebounds against in-state rival Iowa, making 10-of-12 (.833) shots in that game. McKay concluded his week with 18 points and eight boards on Sunday in a win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
Javan Felix, Texas, G, 5-11, 205, Sr., New Orleans, La./St. Augustine
Felix connected on one of the nation’s biggest shots of the season when he sank the game-winning jumper at the buzzer in UT’s 84-82 upset of No. 3 North Carolina. He finished with a game-high 25 points, sinking 9-of-14 (.643) from the floor, including 5-of-7 (.714) from 3-point range. The win was the first for Texas over an Associated Press top five opponent since 2011. For the week, Felix averaged 14.0 points and 2.5 assists in two Longhorn victories while shooting 55.6 percent. He ranks third on UT in scoring (10.7 ppg) while shooting 50 percent from the field and 52.4 percent from beyond the arc.

Davis recorded double-figure scoring totals in the Longhorns’ two victories last week. The freshman guard began the week with 11 points, four rebounds and five assists versus UTSA. He then added 16 points and four rebounds in 29 minutes in the win over No. 3 North Carolina, including converting 4-of-5 from 3-point range. On the week, he was 7-of-10 (.700) from beyond the arc and shot 52.9 percent (9-of-17) from the field overall. Davis also totaled eight rebounds, five assists and one steal. He ranks fourth on the team in scoring with 10.4 points per game while shooting 45.7 percent from 3-point territory on the year.
