COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Bria Holmes scored 26 points as West Virginia overcame a sluggish start to beat Princeton 74-65 on Friday in an opening round game of the women's NCAA Tournament.

Princeton, which got the Ivy League's first ever at-large bid in the tournament, couldn't stay with the bigger, stronger Mountaineers in the final period as West Virginia found its shooting touch and began to push around the scrappy Tigers in the paint.

Anja Martin added 16 points and eight rebounds for the Mountaineers (25-9), who advance to the Sunday game against the winner of the Ohio State-Buffalo game, with the survivor moving on to the Sioux Falls, South Dakota, regional.

Annie Tarakchian paced Princeton (23-6) with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Alex Wheatley added 18 points, making all but one of her 10 shots.

Princeton led much of the first half, thanks to cold shooting by West Virginia, which initially struggled to find open looks against the Tigers' zone defense. The Mountaineers trailed by as much as eight in the first half but managed a 30-29 lead as the half ended.

After shooting just 28 percent from the field in the opening half, the Mountaineers hit more than half their shots in the second half. They were 6 for 22 from beyond the 3-point arc, while Princeton was 5 for 18.
