Norman, Okla. - Four teams advanced to Friday's action following an event-filled opening day of the Big 12 Tennis Championship. Oklahoma and Texas Tech advanced on the men's side, while Kansas State and Kansas moved through on the women's side.
In the men's semifinals, TTU will meet No. 2 seed Oklahoma State, while the Sooners will tangle with top ranked TCU. In the women's quarterfinals, Kansas will face off with Oklahoma State, as K-State is set to meet Texas Tech. Additional match ups in the women's quarterfinals show Texas taking on TCU and Baylor up against Oklahoma.
Texas Tech's 4-2 upset of No. 3 Baylor marks the first time BU will not be advancing to the semifinals since 1997. In the other men's quarterfinal match of the day Oklahoma took down Texas 4-3 in a down to the wire match.
In the two afternoon women's matches, K-State dispatched Iowa State, 4-1, while Kansas overtook West Virginia, 4-1.
The men's semifinal matches will both start at 10 a.m. CT, while the first two women's quarterfinals will start at 1 p.m. CT with the second following at 4 p.m. CT. All matches will take place at the Headington Family Tennis Center on the campus of Oklahoma.
