Six Named Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-Americans

The league had six standouts named Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-Americans, as announced by the newspaper this morning. Kansas State led league selections with Will Brennan and Cam Thompson, followed by Baylor's Shea Langeliers, James Cosentino of Kansas, TCU's Nick Lodolo and Texas Tech's Josh Jung.

All six honorees were named to the All-Big 12 Second Team and All-Big 12 Freshman Team in May. Langeliers, Lodolo and Jung were unanimous All-Big 12 freshman selections.

Langeliers hit .324 for 14 doubles, 10 home runs and 38 RBI for the Bears. He set the Baylor freshman catcher home run record this season.

Cosentino, a two-time Big 12 Newcomer of the Week selection, hit .271 for 11 doubles, 4 home runs, 31 RBI and 10 stolen bases for the Jayhawks.

Brennan, also a two-time Big 12 Newcomer of the Week pick, hit .350 for seven doubles and 27 RBI for Kansas State.

Thompson had a .318 hitting efficiency for eight doubles, four triples, two home runs, 33 RBI and 12 stolen bases for the Wildcats.

Lodolo, part of the Big 12 co-champion TCU squad that has advanced to the NCAA Super Regionals, is 5-1 with a 4.28 ERA as he struck out 69 batters with 27 walks over 73 2/3 innings.

Jung, the Big 12 Freshman of the Year, hit .310 with 12 doubles, five homers, two triples and 41 RBI to guide the Big 12 co-champion Red Raiders to another national seed in the NCAA Tournament.
