The Iowa State Cyclones swept the men’s and women’s titles at the 2017 Big 12 Cross Country Championship. This marks the first team title for the Cyclone men while the women earn their second straight and seventh overall championship. Iowa State becomes only the third school in Big 12 history to win a men’s championship in Cross Country (last: Oklahoma State, 2008-2016).
Individually, Oklahoma State senior Hassan Abdi won the men’s 8K race with a time of 24:11.2, while Sharon Lokedi, a junior from Kansas, won her second-straight women’s title with a time of 20:00.5 in the 6K race.
Next up for the Big 12 cross country teams will be NCAA Regional competition which kicks off on November 10, followed by the NCAA Division I National Championships on November 18 in Louisville, Ky.
