Big 12 Cross Country Teams Head to Regionals

Big 12 men’s and women’s cross country teams will compete at NCAA Regionals on Friday, Nov. 10, for the chance to run in the 2017 NCAA Championships.

Iowa State, the Big 12 men’s and women’s conference champions, will host the Midwest Regional on Friday morning. Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State will join the Cyclones in Ames. The men’s race will begin at 10:45 a.m. CT and the women’s race will start at 11:45 a.m. CT.

The West Virginia women’s team will be the sole Big 12 representative in the Mid-Atlantic Regional, hosted by Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. The Mountaineers’ race takes off at 9:45 a.m. CT. Both the Texas Tech men and women will travel to Logan, Utah for the Mountain Regional, hosted by Utah State. The men’s race starts at 11:15 a.m. CT, while the women will begin at 12:15 p.m. CT.

The remaining Big 12 teams- Baylor, TCU, and Texas- will run in the South Central Regional, hosted by Texas A&M in College Station, Texas. The women will take off at 9:15 a.m. CT, while the men’s race will begin an hour later at 10:15 a.m. CT.

The top two teams at each of the nine regional sites automatically qualify for the NCAA Championships, along with 13 at-large spots to create a field of 31 teams. The 2017 NCAA Division I Cross Country National Championships will take place on Nov. 18, 2017 at E.P. Tom Sawyer Park in Louisville, Kentucky.
