The Oklahoma Sooners will compete in the NCAA Division I Gymnastics Championship Semifinals II Friday night as they look to continue their quest for their third straight NCAA title.
No. 1 Oklahoma is set to face No. 4 Utah, No. 5 Florida, No. 8 Washington, No. 9 California and No. 12 Kentucky at 6 p.m. CT in St. Louis, Mo. where the top three teams will continue on to the NCAA Super Six on Saturday night. Fans can watch live on ESPNU.
Coming out of the Minneapolis Regional, OU finished in first place with a score of 198.00, which was the highest score posted by any team. The Sooners also snagged at least a share of four individual event titles.
Tonight, the Sooners will begin on beam and rotate through the remaining events (bye, floor, vault, bye, bars). OU is one of just five teams in the nation to advance to the NCAA Championships every season since 2004.
The Big 12 will feature two student-athletes competing in individual events: Iowa State's Meaghan Sievers and Denver's Lynnzee Brown. Sievers will be in the rotation with California starting at 7 p.m. CT and is set to compete on vault after posting the top vault mark in Minneapolis Regional. Brown will compete in the all-around while rotating with Georgia.
