Nilehn Named Big 12 Men's Golfer of the Year

Texas Tech senior Fredrik Nilehn was named the Big 12 Men’s Golfer of the Year. Nilehn, ranked fourth in the latest Golfweek national rankings, is the highest-ranked golfer in the Big 12. He has finished in the top 15 at each of Tech’s tournaments this season in which he has played, and holds a 69.38 stroke average through 21 rounds this season.


Oklahoma State’s Matthew Wolff was named Newcomer of the Year and Oklahoma head coach Ryan Hybl was named Coach of the Year. Wolff had five top-five finishes in his freshman season, while Hybl led the Sooners to their first Big 12 championship since 2006.


Four Oklahoma State golfers were named to the All-Big 12 team, which leads the conference. Wolff is joined by fellow Cowboy golfers Viktor Hovland, Zach Bauchou, and Kristoffer Venture. Texas Tech’s Nilehn, Oklahoma’s Brad Dalke and Grant Hirschman, Doug Ghim of Texas, Garrett May of Baylor, Stefano Mazzoli of TCU, and Kansas State’s Jeremy Gandon also earned All-Big 12 distinction.
