ESPN's BPI Has Big 12 Ranked as Strongest Conference

With 100 days until the 2018-19 season opens, ESPN’s Basketball Power Index (BPI) preseason projections has the Big 12 ranked as the strongest conference with Kansas leading the way as the best team.

Fifty percent of Big 12 teams are in the top 25, the highest percentage of any conference. In addition to the top-ranked Jayhawks, West Virginia is rated 5th, followed by 14. Kansas State, 23. TCU and 25. Texas.

The BPI’s preseason ratings takes into consideration quantity of experience on roster, quality of that experience, recruiting rankings for incoming freshmen, with an extra emphasis on five-stars, and coach's past performance.

The Big 12 was ranked as the strongest conference in terms of average BPI rating and average BPI rating of the top half of the league.
