The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Top 25 Coaches Poll was announced as two Big 12 programs were named within the top-15 of the nation after the first weekend of play. Both Baylor and Texas made moves in the poll as the August 8 preseason poll saw Baylor at No. 16 and Texas at No. 5 in the nation.
The most recent poll has Baylor at a program-best No. 12 after a perfect start to the season (3-0). The Bears took down two programs that were receiving votes (LSU and Marquette).
Texas closed off its first weekend of action with a 2-0 record, going up against two top-25 opponents in No. 18 Oregon and a come-from-behind victory over No. 7 Florida. With victories against these top-25 ranked teams, the Longhorns earned a No. 2 spot in the national poll.
Additionally, Iowa State received votes in the poll.
