Cross Country Runners of the Week Named

Joe Gorthy (Kansas State) and Destiny Collins (Texas) were both named Big 12 Cross Country Runners of the Week for week two of the 2018 season.

After a successful showing at the Vic Godfrey Invitational, was named the Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week. The senior paced K-State to a third-place finish, as he finished fourth overall (25:46.8, 8K) against the field. His race over the weekend marked the second consecutive week in which he led the Wildcats to victory.

For the second straight week, Collins has led Texas to a team victory, as she finished first overall in the Rice Invitational (13:35.0, 4K). The Longhorn runner closed out the race more than 25 seconds faster than the second-place finisher.

This week’s awards marks the third all-time award for Collins and the first for Gorthy.
