Kansas swept the Big 12 men’s basketball awards for the second time this season as Lagerald Vick earned Player of the Week while Dedric Lawson claimed Newcomer of the Week in leading the Jayhawks to a 90-84 OT win over Stanford. Vick picked up his second award this season while Lawson has been recognized three of four weeks with two previous player of the week accolades.
Vick scored 25 of his 27 points in the second half and overtime. The senior guard made a 3-pointer with just under seven seconds remaining to send the game into the extra period. He then scored KU's first eight points in OT. His seven 3-pointers marked the third time this season he has made seven or more treys.
Lawson tallied his third straight and fourth double-double of the season with 24 points and 15 rebounds. The junior forward was 10-for-11 from the free throw line and his 15 rebounds marked a season high. Lawson has now scored 24 or more points in three-straight games and 20-plus four times this season.
