For the second time this season, three Big 12 student-athletes earned Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week honors as Alex Ferguson (Kansas State), Gleb Dudarev (Kansas) and Adrian Piperi (Texas) were selected. Piperi and Dudarev were named Co-Men’s Athletes of the Week.
Ferguson (Women’s Athletes of the Week) ran the eighth-fastest 600-meter time in the NCAA this season, en route to her first-place finish at the Sevigne Husker Invitational. She clocked a 1:30.35 in her 600-meter debut, registering the fastest time in the Big 12 this season.
The sophomore Piperi won the Charlie Thomas Invitational with a massive throw of 20.57m/67-6 in the shot put. The distance makes him the No. 1 shot putter in the Big 12 and current No. 3 in the NCAA and No. 4 in the USA this season.
Dudarev made his season debut at the Texas Tech Open where he won the weight throw with a mark of 23.08 meters (75-8.75 ft.). The toss is No. 3 in the NCAA this season and ranks as the No. 4 performance in KU track history overall.
This marks the third all-time weekly award for Dudarev, second for Piperi and first for Ferguson.
