The Big 12 Swimming and Diving Championship returns to the Lee & Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center in Austin beginning on Wednesday, February 27. The event, hosted by Texas for the seventh consecutive year, will run through Saturday, March 2.
Texas swept the 2018 championship, taking home both the men’s and women’s titles. The women’s team has won the past six years while the men’s team has taken home the conference title every year since the league’s inception in 1996.
Six Big 12 championship records were broken during the event a year ago, including four men’s records and two women’s. During the 2018-19 campaign, Texas shattered four swimming records in the men’s 100 free and women’s 50 free (tied record), 100 free, 200 freestyle relay and 400 freestyle relay. Kansas diver Vicky Xu also broke the 3-meter diving (6 dives) with a score of 420.60.
The Championship will begin on Wednesday with the men’s 1-meter prelims at 2:30 p.m. CT followed by the 200 medley relay, men’s 1-meter diving and the 800 freestyle relay starting at 4 p.m. CT. Preliminary action is slated to begin at 10 a.m. CT each day while finals will be underway at 6 p.m. CT.
Tickets can be purchased at the Lee & Jamail Texas Swimming Center box office. Single session general admission tickets for preliminaries are $6 for adults and $4 for youth/students while finals are $10 for adults and $5 for youth/students.
