OKLAHOMA CITY—Top-seeded Baylor outscored No. 2-seed Iowa State 19-5 in the fourth quarter to collect a 67-49 victory and the program’s 10th Phillips 66 Big 12 Women’s Basketball Championship title.
The Lady Bears (31-1) applied pressure early to begin the game, and they spread the ball well amongst each other throughout the first half en route to a 30-25 halftime advantage.
The game was tied six times including at the 3:09 mark in the third quarter, as Bridget Carleton’s jumper tied the game at 41-41.
Despite a strong third quarter performance from Alexa Middleton and Carleton, the Lady Bears took full control from that moment and outscored ISU 26-to-8 down the stretch.
Big 12 Championship Most Outstanding Player, Kalani Brown, tallied 17 points and 7 rebounds. Lauren Cox, who earned a spot on the Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship All-Tournament Team, contributed 17 points and 7 rebounds. Point guard Chloe Jackson chipped in with 16 points in the triumph.
Carleton, Big 12 Women’s Basketball Player of the Year, finished 13 points and All-Tournament Team honors. Middleton paced the Cyclones with 18 to earn All-Tournament accolades. Texas’ Sug Sutton was also named to the All-Tournament Team.
