Korashvili and Vocel Named Big 12 Tennis Players of the Week
March 12, 2019

For the third time this season and second consecutive week, Oleksandra Korashvili (Oklahoma) was named the Big 12 Women’s Tennis Player of the Week. Matej Vocel of Oklahoma State was selected as the men’s weekly award recipient.

Korashvili took down two ranked opponents in singles play, both the clinching factor in matches against No. 49 Tulsa and No. 39 Gonzaga. Her victory over No. 7 Sophie Whittle was her third over a top-25 opponent this season. Both her singles wins came at the No. 1 spot.

OSU’s Vocel recorded a win in singles against the No. 25 player in the nation to clinch the Cowboys’ win over No. 35 NC State. The sophomore went perfect in doubles action (3-0) and capped off the weekend with a 5-0 overall record in singles and doubles.

This week’s award marks the first all-time for Vocel and the third for the Sooner.
