The Big 12 Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week honorees were named as Iowa State’s Festus Lagat and K-State’s Lauren Taubert were recognized.
This week’s award marks the first all-time for both the Cyclone and the Wildcat.
Lagat, the Men’s Athlete of the Week, recipient ran fastest recorded time in the nation this season in the 800-meter race with a winning time of 1:47.14. On top of leading the nation, Lagat’s run ranks No. 3 in ISU history.
On the women’s side, Taubert garnered weekly honors after she set the No. 3 mark in the NCAA in the women’s heptathlon. She recorded PR’s in five of the seven events, including a PR in heptathlon points with 5,669. Her mark ranks No. 9 in the world this season.
