The University of Texas men’s tennis program clinched its first title since 2014 and its first outright title since 2010.
UT earned its eighth regular-season crown in the Big 12, five outright and three shared. Fifty percent of the regular-season titles won by the Longhorns have come through perfect records.
Heading into the final week of league play, Texas pulled in a No. 1 national ranking, per ITA Tennis, for the highest ranking of any Big 12 program this season.
In singles action, Christian Sigsgaard (4-1) and Yuya Ito (5-0) led the Longhorns to its perfect record in Conference play, competing at the No. 1 and No. 2 spots, respectively.
This year’s Texas titles mark the 14th time in Big 12 history in which both the men’s and women’s programs from the same institution captured the regular-season titles simultaneously, four of which, from the Longhorns.
