Lawrence, Kan. - The semifinal rounds at the 2019 Big 12 Tennis Championship for both the men and women are locked.
On the men’s side, the first men’s match of the day saw No. 5 Oklahoma knock off No. 4 Texas Tech, 4-0. No. 6 Oklahoma State upset No. 3 TCU by a final score of 4-2. Four of the six singles matches in the OSU victory were extended to a third set. The Sooners will match up against No. 1 Texas at the Jayhawk Tennis Center, while the Cowboys will battle the No. 2-seeded Baylor Bears on the Sports Pavilion Courts. Both matches are schedule to begin at 12 p.m. CT.
For the women, host-institution and No. 3-seeded Kansas captured a victory over No. 6 TCU, 4-1. With the win, the Jayhawks are set to face No. 2 Oklahoma State at 3 p.m. CT. The Oklahoma State Cowgirls came out victorious against the No. 7 seed, Kansas State, by a final score of 4-0.
The second semifinal matchup on the women’s side will have No. 1-seeded Texas squared up against No. 4-seeded Texas Tech with a 3 p.m. CT showdown after both came out victorious in their respective matches (UT: 4-1; TTU: 4-3).
The Longhorns and Lady Raiders will compete on the Sports Pavilion Courts, while KU and OSU will battle for a championship match spot at the Jayhawk Tennis Center.
