Irving, Texas - Sixty-two student-athletes are honored on the 2019 Academic All-Big 12 Tennis Team.
Twenty-seven honorees make up the men’s team, while the women’s team features 35. Combined, the first team includes 54 selections (24 men and 30 women) with the second team totaling eight (three men and five women).
Texas Tech led all men’s teams with six honorees, while Iowa State paced all women’s squads with six members.
Among those nominated, Sofia Blanco (Oklahoma State), Giovanna Caputo (West Virginia), Johnny Goodwin (Texas), Livia Kraus (Baylor), Skyler Miller (Oklahoma), Abigail Rosiello (West Virginia), Katarina Stresnakova (Oklahoma State) and Bjorn Thomson (Texas Tech) represented with 4.00 grade point averages.
First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 20 percent of their team’s scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
