Oklahoma State Takes Home Big 12 Men's Golf Championship Title

The Oklahoma State Cowboys captured the program’s 10th Big 12 Men’s Golf Championship at the Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va. Winning by 11 strokes, OSU carded a 54-hole score of 827 (-13) to close the championship. With the victory, Oklahoma State wins its first title since 2011.

The Cowboys ended the day breaking two Big 12 championship records for lowest second round score (268) and lowest score after two rounds (546). OSU also registered 19 total birdies in the last round, which helped solidified the team’s win.

TCU trailed OSU, registering 838 (-2). Finishing tied for third place was Oklahoma and Texas with a final score of 842 (+2). In fifth was Texas Tech with 844 (+4), followed by No. 6 Baylor with 846 (+6), then Kansas State, which earned 847 (+7). Iowa State notched eighth with a mark of 856 (+16). Trailing in ninth was Kansas with 860 (+20). West Virginia rounds out the standings with a score of 864 (+24).

Hayden Springer of TCU earned the program’s second individual champion title since 2014. The senior won by only one stroke after carding a final score of 202 (-8).  Springer tied two Big 12 individual championship records for the lowest first round score (64) and lowest 36-hole score (132).

The Big 12 All-Tournament Team was announced at the conclusion of play. The team consists of the top 10 individual finishers, including ties, following 54 holes. A complete list is below. 

Teams will resume play with the 2019 NCAA Men’s Golf Regionals May 13-15 and the NCAA Championship May 24-29 at Blessings Golf Course in Fayetteville, Ark. Selections for the NCAA Championship will be announced on Wednesday, May 1, at 8 p.m. CT on the Golf Channel.
