Eight Big 12 student-athletes were named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District At-Large Teams.
Three women earned honors, while on the men’s side, five garnered recognition.
The 2018-19 Google Cloud Academic All-District At-Large Teams are selected by CoSIDA and recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances in the athletic realm and in the classroom. The Google Cloud Academic All-America program separately recognizes outstanding student-athletes in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
For the women, Louise Kuehster (Oklahoma, District 7, Rowing), Sofia Blanco (Oklahoma State, District 7, and Tennis) and Abigail Rosiello (West Virginia, District 2, Tennis) were honored with first team spots.
On the men’s side, Jimmy Bendeck (Baylor, District 7, Tennis), Brian Schibler (Oklahoma, District 7, Gymnastics), Sandy Scott (Texas Tech, District 7, Golf), Bjorn Thomson (Texas Tech, District 7, Tennis) and Philipp Matlari (West Virginia, District 2, Golf) all earned recognition on the first team.
First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team (if applicable) Academic All-America honorees will be announced in June.
The Google Cloud Academic All-District teams include the student-athletes listed on the following pages and are divided into geographic districts across the United States and Canada.
