Soccer Preseason Team Revealed
August 07, 2019

The Big 12 Conference has announced the 2019 Preseason All-Big 12 Soccer team, as voted by the league’s head coaches. The team, made up of 12 student-athletes, is led by Texas with four honorees.

2018 Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year Cyera Hintzen of Texas headlines the list of 2019 preseason selections. TCU’s Messiah Bright and UT’s Julia Grosso, the 2018 Co-Freshmen of the Year, also earned spots on the preseason team. Nine of the 12 preseason selections were All-Big 12 First Team or Second Team members in 2018.

Four members of the preseason team were named to the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List earlier this month in midfielders Haley Berg of Texas and Yazmeen Ryan of TCU, along with goalkeeper Rylee Foster of West Virginia and Hintzen.

The 2019 Big 12 soccer preseason poll will be announced on Thursday, August 8.

The season kicks off with six teams in action on Thursday, August 22, with Kansas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas and Texas Tech all taking the pitch. The remaining four programs will open the year throughout the weekend.
