Kansas senior forward Katie McClure was named the Division I Women’s National Player of the Week by the United Soccer Coaches Tuesday.
The Wichita, Kansas, native had already been named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week after her 10-point week that included four goals and two assists in two games. She netted her first-career hat trick and one assist in a 4-0 win over Nebraska and scored one goal and added another assist in a 6-0 victory against Loyola-Chicago. Her 10 points and four goals both lead the Conference and place second in the nation.
McClure’s national honor is the Big 12’s 10th all-time and third in the last three years, as Texas’ Cyera Hintzen (2018) and Nicole Curry (2017) were each previously honored.
The Jayhawks will return to the pitch on Thursday, August 29 for a top-20 showdown with No. 20 Memphis in Lawrence, Kan. The match will be available on Big 12 Now on ESPN+.
