Big 12 Alums Set for WNBA Playoffs

Nine Big 12 women’s basketball alums will compete in the 2019 WNBA Playoffs, which begin on Wednesday.

Baylor leads the way with four participants: Kalani Brown (Los Angeles), Brittney Griner (Phoenix), Alexis Jones (Los Angeles) and Odyssey Sims (Minnesota). The Sooners have two in the postseason with Courtney Paris (Seattle) and Danielle Robinson (Minnesota).

Iowa State’s Bridget Carleton will join Robinson and Sims on the Lynx. Two Big 12 alums will appear in the semifinals, as Texas Longhorn Ariel Atkins has a two-round bye with top-seeded Washington and West Virginia Mountaineer Bria Holmes also has a bye to the semifinals with No. 2-seed Connecticut.

The WNBA Playoffs open with a doubleheader on ESPN2 on Wednesday, Sept. 11. No. 8-seed Phoenix plays No. 5-seed Chicago at 7 p.m. CT, followed by No. 7 Minnesota at No. 6 Seattle at 9 p.m. CT.
