Since its inception in 1996, the Big 12 Conference has proudly partnered with Special Olympics and continues to work closely with the statewide Special Olympic organizations.

Special Olympians have become a familiar presence at Big 12 Championships including the Big 12 Dr Pepper Football Championship and Phillips 66 Big 12 Basketball Championships.

Through sports, Special Olympics' athletes have opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, learn new skills, gain self-confidence, set goals and reach expectations.
